Transfer Time!

After eight long years in Paro, I am finally planning my maiden transfer to a Place other than Paro. In eight years of my service, I had the opportunity of serving my office to the best of my ability. It was pleasure working in, what many people say a "sensitive place". In terms of work knowledge, I have profited immensely under various Regional Directors. I had the pleasure of working with some of the most dedicated and resourceful officers and inspectors alike. Some day I would like to write a separate post on this.

But for now, let me write as to why I have to move from this beautiful place. I have both official and personal reasons. Le me keep my personal inconveniences aside.

On the official front, I think its unwise on my part to confine to one particular place. So long! In the words of my colleagues, it has become the need of hour for me to also "come out of the box'. People say, too much of anything is not good. And here, I have to come to realize that too many years in same work place is also not good as well.

Our (outgoing) Director

Few days ago I had the most memorable audience with our (outgoing) Director. I had the opportunity of hearing both personal and official advice from him in a long long time. I Think I will keep those thing to myself. But I should say that it was by far the most emotional meeting. He told me that our department has so many untapped talents. He talked to me about the officials who are intelligent, dedicated, loyal and resourceful.

I second his statement wholeheartedly!. And I believe that now is the time for our colleagues in other place come to Paro to discover their talents.

Before I could even finish my planning, many people are quick to anticipate my next place of transfer, -Phuntsholing-. I do not know the reason myself but, some people are quick to equate Phuntsholing to Australia, merely because I am a Customs official. This is what many people think.

But Contrary to what many people think, I am  now planning to move to a place where I can extend my productivity frontier. I am planning to find a work place where I can be of more value and asset. I would be the happiest man, If I am able to find a work place where I could put my masters in Economics into "optimal" use.

So for now, I need lot of prayers.

  1. Sir, you got a nice plan actually. As you move to the new places, you will see another kind of human which you would not have seen in Paro.
    Good Luck anyways.

  2. All the best, sir. Good luck for the future course of your working life. I know your Masters in Economics can be put to better use. It will not only achieve your personal aim to make more use of your intellect, but also do a lot more to the country or whichever place you may end up working. :)
