Reflection and Contemplation Day

Today is 21/12/2013 and I take it as a very special day of my life. This is because one year ago, for no apparent reason, I decided to make 21st December(s) as my reflection and contemplation day. I remember writing a post that day. I think wrote a post thanking few beautiful people including my Kings. I also remember making a wow to write about some more people who have played a role in making my life beautiful, meaningful and memorable.

So today I wanted to write about two individuals from whom I have learned so much about life. I owe them a "Thank you" as big and as deep as the ocean.

Dasho Yonten

I had the privilege of working under Dasho Yonten's supervision for about a year. It was during that brief period that I felt the man in me maturing. I feel very fortunate to have met a person of his caliber and I will remain ever grateful for all his inspirational words and wisdom. Of the many wisdom he shared, two things struck my heart and soul. I think it will take ages for me to forget those words. The first one is about his lesson on "never assuming things" in discharge of my bureaucratic obligations. He taught me a lesson on cross checking the things all the time.

The other word of wisdom he spoke to me might sound trifle to many. But to me, I should say that those are words that brought me self realization. It was few weeks ago that I was running a frenzied errand. It had a reference to my transfer request. Its a long story to narrate here. And I am afraid because many of my colleagues have already told me to refrain writing about it on my blog. But I feel I am helpless and need to pour down a bit here.

As always, the matter of transfer has always been a murky and confusing thing in our department. It has a long history again. But about my transfer case, I think I approached the rightful person with a note from rightful authority at a right time. But to my utter disappointment, the very person who is suppose to look after our welfare said I am being "jealous". For once I couldn't understand his words. I went blank. I came out from his office lost and lonely, and rejected.

But then, I met Dasho Younten on the way. and he called me into his chamber. He just needed a small start and he understood the entire story. To console my defeated heart he had these words: 'Kuenzang, do not put up a fight which you cannot win. ༼མ་ཐུཔ་པ་ལ་མ་རྒོལ་་་་་མ་བྱིན་པ་ལ་མ་རེ ༽ I will leave these words for each readers to analyze. As for me I could not agree more with him. I am grateful I met a person who not only consoled me that day but also inspired me to work more and work harder for the cause of our beautiful country.

In fact, there are many words of Dasho that I cherish. And some day I wanted to become famous so that I can write it down in my autobiography.

Now that there are already rumors of Dasho Yonten taking over the reigns of Directorship of our department, I could not expect more fitting person than him. I am of the strong opinion that Dasho Yonten will finally set us all right. But for now lets wait.

My Partner
Yes, I call him as "partner". And there are many people who think we are gay. Interesting! But the fact is we are not. "Partner" in our terminology means "comrade". By the way we are both a responsible fathers. We both have a wife who I believe are the most beautiful ladies on this planet.

And Today I want to thank my Partner /Comrade Tashi for making my life in Paro airport a wonderful one. We are now entering into our ten years of togetherness and all I can say about him is that he is one friend who can inspire and enlighten your monotonous life. I am sure his sense of humor will even make the dullest person smile. In more than nine years, I came to know that he is a person with golden heart.

Tashi is a very intelligent man. He is sensitive and selfless too. And through his intelligence, sensitiveness and selflessness, I have immensely profited in my professional life. Thanks to my professional association with him. We had ups and we had down in airport, But together I think we have always managed to remain afloat. So thank you partner for all the good times you have put up with me.
